Meh, not sure how this will work out. But any suggestions and whatnot would be appreciated.

FAQs and Whatnot + Rules

Section 1: What you need
~A deck of 45-60 card min, 80 max
~A place to layout your cards and deck,
Basically enough room so you can read your cards.

Section 2: How this will work
Alright seeing as how both players cant see eachother's card over the internet, we are basing the entire thing on an HONOR SYSTEM. Which means, we expect you to play fairly and play to your deck, not have organized cards. A shuffled deck will due.

First Post: Challange is made
You may state what kind of deck your using or keep it concealed, adding to the fun of the game. During this time, you may also implement any rules you wish to put forth into the game.
Second Post: Challanged is accepted
Again, you may state what deck type your using or keep it concealed. It is your task to agree with the terms the challanger has posted.

Now during this time each player will shuffle their deck accordingly. [Honor System] Once the decks have been shuffled, you may assume your facing your opponet as if he were across from you. You deal out your 7 cards, if you dont like what you see, you may take a mulligan, but remember you draw 1 LESS card then before. When your happy with your starting cards, you may presume to lay out your mana, as you regularly do. [To be posted in the first post, yo accept mana burn, or single mana draw: Mana Burn: Where you lay out all your mana in your starting hand, Single Mana Draw is whjere you only lay out 1 mana each turn] (If I remember correctly, its been awhile since I played)

After this, you both may proceed to post the layout of your field. Example:

This shows that Player 1 has, 2 [G]reen mana out and 1 [R]ed mana out. After the third and fouth posts are made which are your starting hand posts, you may both descide by PM or AIM or whatever, who goes first, or you may state this in the first post.

After that, play the game normally as you do.

Technical Stuff:
Here comes the hard part.

Tapping: Tapping is the basic need of the game, without it, you can take your actions. So, when tapping a land, simply put: [R-T] which means, red mountain tapped. Simple enough for the tapping phase.

Attacking and Creature Abilties: When its time to summon your creature, remember to tap your land. After this, state what creature you are brining into the field. Example:

Brassclaw Orcs: (2)[R] Means 2 of any mana and 1 [R]ed mountain to be tapped.
Special Ability: Cannot be assigned to block any creatures of power greater then 1.
Attack/Defense: 3/2

Do this with the creatures you adding to the summon pool. Remember, unless it states otherwise, all creatures have summoning sickness, which means they cant attack until the second turn, unless you also play a spell to counter effect it.

If you wish to attack with this creature in your post state:
I attack with Brassclaw Orcs for 3 dmg.

Then the Next post will be for the player to defend, or take the dmg as a normal game.

[I beleive at this point, we will need a judge to take care of the dmg and life points of each member. so Arguements dont spill.]

Playing Spells:
Spells will be the same as Summoned Creatures: Play a spell from your hand, remember to tap your land, post it, and state what it does. After which the [Referee] will post the action has been made and its agreeable with the terms.

Other stuff you should know:

Well, it only gets more technical after this with the stacking rule, and a time period. Its hard to save your card positions ona Forum, so maybe limiting your health, or just maybe setting a Post limit to the battle to see how much damage you both can do in the set about. Say for example...The post lmiit for the battle is 30 posts. Whoever does the most dmg, wins.

This is a rough draft, those of you who wish to add on or other ideas, please do so.

That sounds like a great idea, although judging from the majority of the people this place has including those who will come back, I think it's going to be compromised, alot of people here would never admit defeat ESPECIALLY if their defeat cannot be proved. I can name alot of people but only one guy comes instantly to mind.
But it still sounds good if we had honest players, I have a magic deck collecting dust now and this is a great way to start using it again.

I just read magic the gathering and I was like w00tage. Yes I play Magic, I have a green and a blue deck. A white deck. Red deck...rawr!!! But all my cards are everywhere I have box full of them. The only reason I kept so many cards is because of a friend of mine wanted to play sometime. I don't understand where Lionell is coming from...but uh what is this all about? Like an on-line way of playing magic? On anfiniti?!

Actually yes it is. The idea was brought up wen Kyuu stated he was in the mood to play Magic, but no other players were to be found. I brought up the idea that I might be able to draw out some sort of text based/format for the game so that we can play online, using a post-by-post move set. It'll take time getting used to and the above stated is only a rough draft. There is still alot that needs to be done, but its a fun idea none the less.

There is an actuall Online game for this, however, its a priced service, and they use 'internet card' and such. My other thread explained it better.

I attempted this once, it ended in disaster, mainly due to a conflict in rules interpretation. A word of warning: Make sure everybody knows how the rules are interpreted on here, including the small ones. Those are the ones that ruined it for my friend and I.

Something tells me people will be easily confused, and much confusion will be introduced into many of the played games.

hehe, I have been playing MTG for about 7 years now. why dont you just use a program like Apprentice? MTG play got shut down by WotC but I think Apprentice is still up.
