History
Long ago, across the sea in the west, the Eldar were traveling to a new land that was to be called Middle-earth. Whilst on this journey, they found a man of supreme wisdom, lore, and power; he was a wizard whom they named Iladel. The Elves finally landed on the shores of the new land and gave to Iladel any land he would want. Strangely, the wizard chose a barren land, south of the green forest of Mirkwood and east of the Golden Wood of Lorien, called the Wold. The Kindred did not question Iladel's judgement, however, for they realized that he knew all he was doing. So, the culture and the wizard lived in harmony; the Eldar would call on Iladel for aid, and Iladel would answer them. The wizard usually lived in seclusion, however. Even when the Edain, Men of Numenor, came to the Shores of Middle-earth during the beginning of the Second Age, they let him be in fear of what may happen if he was angered. The Kings of Gondor, Mighty Realm of the South, and Arnor, the Lost Realm of the North, formed alliance with him, though, and Merodir, as they named Iladel in the own tongue, would protect them as best he could. However, even the great wizard could not see the coming of the darkness on the horizon.
This darkness was that of Morgoth, which had been overthrown in the great battle with the Elves in the First Age. It crept in through a subtle entrance. Soon, Sauron the Great landed on the coast of Middle-earth, and with him he brought power unseen so far in the land. Sauron tried to seduce the Elves and succeeded in winning over their smiths even though their king Gil-Galad, who had been advised to by Iladel, forbade it. Sauron taught the Elves how to craft very powerful rings, which later became the Rings of Power. The smiths made three for the Elf-Lords, who used them wisely. Seven were made for the Dwarves, but they stayed in their halls of stone. Then, Sauron went to the Kings of Numenor; one of the Kings, Elendil, refused to be aided by Sauron. However, the nine others accepted Sauron's offer, much against Merodir's bidding, for they always desired much power. But all of them were deceived by Sauron for, in secret, the Lord created the Ring that would Rule all the other Rings. Into this ring he poured his cruelty, malice, and power. Now, the Dark Lord sent out his forces daily up to Lothlorien and Mirkwood; they never got past the Wold where Iladel fought off every Orc. Discouraged, Sauron decided to slaughter all the other Free Races of Middle-earth. He created havoc all over Gondor, Arnor, and even the northern borders of Mirkwood. There were some, however, that resisted Sauron. Elendil, his sons, and Gil-Galad the Elven King marshalled up an army to rival that of Sauron's. Merodir foresaw that there would be strong opposition and plowed the way before the Last Alliance of Men and Elves. The wizard cut down Orcs and Easterlings with fell swings of his sword Giladel and his staff Evenstar until he finally reached Mount Doom. Sauron himself was going to battle with the One Ring on his finger, but he met someone he did not expect. Iladel, bane of Orcs, advisor of Kings, lore-master of Elves, hero to all, stood in his path. On Mount Doom's slope, even as battle raged on below, the two enemies fought. Fire blazed, and metal rang until finally the One Ring's power conquered Iladel. Merodir fell into a deep sleep, but he had stopped Sauron long enough to give the Last Alliance a chance. Isildur, son of the fallen Elendil, sliced the Ring off Sauron's finger. This was the Dark Lord's demise during the battle; his spirit fled, leaving his body behind, but he escaped. All would have been well had only the Ring been destroyed, but it was taken by Isildur. However, the Ring betrayed Isildur and led him to his death. The Ring was lost for 2,500 years.
The Third Age became known for the War of the Ring and the Rise of Men. The Ring was found by a creature Smeagol, but, once again, the Ring betrayed its owner. Then, something happened that even the Ring did not expect; a hobbit, Bilbo Baggins, stumbled across the Ring and picked it up. It helped him much on his journeys and gave him abnormally long life. It was passed on to his much younger cousin Frodo. After the Ring came to Frodo, Gandalf, brother of Celegost, as hobbits learned Iladel's name, and friend of the Baggins family, urged Frodo to bring the Ring to Rivendell. The Council of Elrond decided that the Ring must be destroyed in order for Sauron, who had risen up once again to power, to be defeated. So it was that the Fellowship of the Ring set off from Rivendell to destroy the Ring. They succeeded; Sauron was defeated, and good returned to Middle-earth. Bilbo, Frodo, and Gandalf went over the Sea to the Undying Lands. It was then that Celegost appeared again.
When Sauron was defeated, Celegost instantly woke from his slumber. He escaped from the crumbling Mount Doom and went to his home in the Wold. There he made the land lush, and many Ents, the tree-herders, came to create a forest in Celegost's realm. He soon learned everything that had happened during the Third Age. Iladel introduced himself to the new King of Gondor and Arnor, Aragorn Elessar. A vow was made to protect Gondor, Rohan(ruled by Eomer King), and Arnor(also ruled by Aragorn). Celegost fulfilled that vow often, and now he prepares to eradicate another evil that threatens Middle-earth.
Weapons
Evenstar
Evenstar is the staff of Iladel, the key to all his magic. The staff is six inches and five feet tall and made of the hard silver bark of the mallorn tree; its diameter is about three inches. It is circular all along the staff until the top where seperates into three triagular braches. In the middle of the branches is a crescent moon, which will light up as magic is being prepared to be sent out of the staff. Evenstar is extremely solid meaning it can be used as a physical weapon as well; if swung with the right amount of force in the right place, it could instantly knock someone out. Celegost's staff is perhaps is most vital weapon.
Giladel
Keen as it is old, Giladel has been with Celegost since he first joined the Elves. The double-bladed sword is unbelievably sharp so that it can dig very deep and fatal wounds. The three-foot blade is a dazzling silver, but it glows a soft blue when an enemy of Celegost is about. The hilt is gold with a ruby embedded in its center; the handle is leather bound. Inscribed in the blood trough are flowing Elven runes reading "I am Giladel, bane of shadow. I will stay true to only my master." As these runes say if Celegost should fall in battle or have the sword taken away by force, it would shatter into a million unusable shards. Clearly, some of Iladel's magic is hidden in this sword.
Spells
Earendil's Light[Activated]- The Star of Earendil, beloved of the Elven culture, is called by Celegost to shine down on the setting of battle. All fog and/or clouds are cleared and replaced by light that reveals all. Once cast by Celegost, the spell remains in effect during the whole battle. However, it may be dulled somewhat at Iladel's need.
Finishers/Large Summons
Galadriel's Wind- The spirit of Middle-earth's eldest elf, Galadriel, comes down with Celegost and creates a whirlwind. The tornado's winds speed up rapidly, and, at Iladel's command, rushes to meet and destroy the enemy. This spell may only be used once per battle.
Bruinen's Wave- The spell of the river that protects Rivendell, fortress of the Elves, and wipes out all enemies is muttered by Celegost. The water from any stream/river/lake/sea rises quickly and forms into a tidal wave. The tidal wave is then released by Iladel and charges towards the opponent, seeking to wipe them out. It may be used once per battle.
The Army of the Dead- The Oathbreakers, an army long dead, will materialize at Celegost's bidding. They will wipe out everything they touch and are impervious to all except strong magic. Only when they fulfill what they've been called for will they go. This summon may be used once per battle.
The Giant Eagles- The Eagles of the Misty Mountains fly to the battlefield. They seek to catch their prey or maim it. The flying beasts will not leave easily and may ever let Celegost fly them into air. There the wizard cast spells from the clouds, which would make him even more deadly. This summon may be used once per battle.
Normal Strength Spells/Summons
Enlightened Shield[Activated]- Celegost speaks to form a shield of light around him. The shield is strong and deflects any attack, with the exception of critical hits, that is aimed at Celegost for that turn. This spell may be summoned two times per battle.
The Entmoot-"The Ents will wake up, and they will find that they are strong." The Shepherds of the Trees will come during Merodir's time of need. They will instantly find their enemy who they will seek to stamp out. Also, a few will stand guard to protect Iladel from harm. This summon may be used once per battle.
Bane of Udun[Activated]- Celegost summons the same power as his brother Gandalf did to defeat the Balrog. He raises his sword up to the sky, and lightning strikes it. Then, Celegost may charge his enemy and strike with doubled power from his sword. The effect lasts for two turns and may be used once.
Light of the Order[Activated]- The light of the ancient order of the Istari forms in Celegost's staff. When charged, the light bursts out the top in the form of a highly concentrated beam of white light. The light will blind the enemy for one turn and may burn through many things. Summons are weakened. This spell may be used once per battle.
Athelas[Passive]-A small wound will automatically be healed after two turns. A moderate wound will be healed after four turns. A severe wound will be healed after six turns.
~All spells and finishers take one turn to fully charge. They may be let out before that time, but they will be fairly weak. Summons and passive spells are an exception.
ex. Celegost's Enlightened Shield would block for less time.
Appearance
Celegost is garbed in a simple grey hooded cloak for his travels. It drops to his ankles where it is tattered from all the wizard’s journeys. However, when the cloak is cast off, dazzling silver robes flow out. They also flow down to the wizard’s ankles, but, unlike the travelers’ cloak, they do not become tattered. Iladel wears knee-high white boots made of tough suede leather; they offer medium protection. Hidden beneath his cloak, a mithril vest covers his chest and stomach while underneath that is a full shirt of regular chain mail. Celegost wears a skirt of the toughest brown leather to protect down to his knees. The wizard’s armor is not impervious, but you need to hit it in the right place.
Celegost has a war-hardened face that sometimes can express deep happiness. His glowing emerald eyes give off the strange aura of an age long ended. His long and sleek silvery hair shimmers as he moves; when let down it flows to the bottom of his shoulders. Celegost also has a beard of the same color that flows down to his chest. He has a tan complexion that reflects all the time he spends riding around the land. He has little muscle, a paradox to his great strength. So is the appearance of Celegost.
Celegost’s Profile is subject to change. Those changes, however will not go into effect during the middle of a battle.
