Granado Espada is an MMO, however it incorporates some interesting functions that make it stand amongst the midst of a generic MMO. Such functions are the "Family Implement." In Granado Espada, individuals don't conquer the "new lands," but families do. The queen of Vespenola has sent your family on a quest as a pioneer to discover the new lands and build up fame and wealth (not too much of a hard task, right?)

Another interesting aspect they added to the MMO is that different "stances" enable you to use different spells, weapons, tactics. Kind of like how you can use classes in FF Online. So, if I opened up the "Freeshot Stance" for my fighter, she would be able to use projectile weapons. Albeit a little out of her class style, it does look pretty cool.

In Granado Espada, you will have family members that you will all control at once. the basic classes that are opened in the beginning are the Musketeers, Fighters, Elementalists, Wizards, and Scouts. Later on, you can recruit different NPC's to join your family to increase your size.

Here's a few members of my family. Cindelle, Tiferet, and Ophelia.

Oh, and the graphics for the game aren't crap, as you can see..

Time for my SUPERAWESOMESCREENSHOTSPECTACULAR time.

Yes, Granado Espada is awesome. the graphics are great (on high), the soundtrack is awesome (at some point renaissance-techno-ish) and the gameplay is fun (gotta love being able to afk yourself so it trains on its own... as long as you dont die)

so heres some of my screenshots. Btw, you can buy poses so that the screens are a bit better.

1: me, in a dungeon. taking a screenshot at just the right time. in the background, you see my main musketeer (guy) having just shot a monster.

well there you have it, another game for us to mass up in. now get started, go play it.

I played alot of 3-D MMOs, and I gotta say, this one is the best. I jsut downloaded it yesterday, thanks to Cy. Sorry, Cy. I lost your name. D: If you wanna add me, my family name is Arziel. They took Raleigh, so I had no other choice. (One level 8 and 2 level 6's. Ele, Fighter, and Muskateer.)

Weeee!!! Another MMO to try out!! I just hope this thing does not cause my poor computer to die a horrible death. I still can't believe my computer comes with a SiS Video card that no one ever heard of with no direct rendering. At least not to my knowledge. Well, if anything I will put it on the lowest settings possible.

:) SMILEZ!!!!

I just hope that IF I am able to play this, it stays Free to play. Some games became Pay to play after beta. I hope this isn't one of those games that do become Pay to Play after the Beta.

Either way, who here would play it even if it becomes pay to play(p2p)??

EDIT: About the game becoming pay to play, it is very likely that it is going to happen seeing that it was created by the people who created Ragnarok Online.

Anfiniti Treasure Golem Raid '07 - Part One

Making our way through the Tetra Golden Roads, the Anfiniti Family is doing quite well in fending off the mobs of monsters.. until.. unexpectingly.. it hit. The Treasure Golem Boss appears and approached toward us.
http://img468.imageshack.us/img468/5143/raid1um2.jpg

The Anfiniti Family tried to stand their ground and fight bravely... however in the end, no one was left alive.
http://img61.imageshack.us/img61/2818/raid2md9.jpg

Having successfully been revived, the Anfiniti Family regroups and calls upon help from an allied family. Things look good. The Roquel and the Lysia family (Hayato) is taking sniper guard at the top whereas the Verafonte family and the Arziel family are setting up a barricade behind (Cyrax & Vivi). They may have a chance.
http://img61.imageshack.us/img61/3338/raid3pf4.jpg

Finally.. the gigantic treasure golem appears.. The only thing the families of Anfiniti can think of are to.. RUN. However, the Verafonte family (Cyrax) stands their guard bravely as the others flee.
http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/725/raid4oz7.jpg

Part 2 of the raid will be posted by Cyrax.

skittles has a good point. The game is produced by IMC Entertainment, a company that was created after one of the people from Gravity moved out. It might actually become pay to play. In which case, that'd be the sux.

I remember that. "defensive position!" "here it comes" "AAHH IM SCARED" *everyone runs away* "ASSES DONT LEAVE ME ALONE" *proceeds to shoot at the golem for a good 2 mins until it notices him, and kills him VERY HARD*

My turn. I only had 2 good screens, so sorry about that.

Shortly before regrouping for the showdown as a team, every family present were running for their lives. Here, Jaxter Verafonte (aka: my healer guy) was waiting for his two partners to wake up, when he noticed the ground shake...
http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c218/JRuest/capture_00014.jpg

Now, during the blockade, with all families alive (save for vivi's other 2 characters), the Anfiniti team awaits the boss to come to them... but somehow, he doesnt show up... Vivi promptly volunteers to draw him in, and his friends admire his bravery...

Yeah, that has been very controversial and even the creator himself is even deeply divided in this.

There is a thread in the official forum that has a poll whether the game should be free or not, about 75% of the users their have voted towards a free game with a casshop.

This game has gone live. It's free to play until level 20, which thereafter you won't receive anymore Experience points. Otherwise, the game is $20 to buy (which comes with a bunch of money and a month free) and 8.95 a month afterward.

:\ Suppose you guys can keep going til 20 though, which usually still takes quite some time.

Yes, I am. I figured you guys just called it by the shorter, more attractive name. What is that like the official American version of the game, and you guys are playing some other region version of the game on the only American server?

Hayato

The American Server is just like the Maylasian server.. it's just the Maylasian server has more updated recruitable characters and costumes... which the american server will soon have.

and yeah, this is the official american version of the game.

And here's my take on our recent raid attempt (lacking a few pictures, but meh):

We sit around in Camira(or whatever), waiting for allies to come join our recently-formed squad to assault the Tetra Ruins. Of course, I have to rally the men with my awesome poses and such. Eventually, we gather all of our comrades and began our odyssey!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v521/TheZeroVirus/capture_00011.jpg

Thus we traverse through the ruins - slaying mobs of demons, zombies, and giant lard-filled hearts which resemble Minion.

Eventually we reach the treasure room; a gleaming den of marble and shiney stuffs galore. Our awe of its beauty was shortlived; however, once that beast reared its ugly head out of the corridor.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v521/TheZeroVirus/capture_00017.jpg

'Twas the Treasure Golem! The giant's disdain upon our presence grew, once it saw us ogling the treasures that went wall-to-wall. In a fit of rage, it smashed its stubby-arm-thing down, launching us up into the air!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v521/TheZeroVirus/capture_00018.jpg

The battle raged on, and on!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v521/TheZeroVirus/capture_00012.jpg

We all fought valiantly against the enormous foe; losing a limb or two over here and there, until eventually - we dwindle its HP bar down to a measly 1%.

At this moment, we prep for our finishing blows - shouting various quotes and obscenities! When we returned.... we found the behemoth - dead. Apparently, it seems that a little person, leeching off our kills, decided to steal our kill... while we were plotting how to finish it.

Just goes to show ya': Don't trust 'dem damn nubs.

UPDATE

Baron Mode, a feature only available on PK (player kill) enabled servers, allows chaos loving players to roam the plains killing other players at their leisure.

In order to enter Baron Mode, a player must execute a successful forced attack on another player. If this attack results in a kill, the kill is counted as a Baron Kill, and enters the murdering player’s family into Baron Mode.

Players adventuring in Baron mode will receive a special Baron buff that increases their attack and lowers their defense. While in Baron mode they cannot join a squad, are susceptible to attack from any non-Baron player, and stand a chance to permanently lose an equipped item if they are slain.

In order to execute a forced attack, the player attack and the player being attacked must have a family level of at least 6. Family level is calculated based on your family’s total number of characters and the level of those characters. A family of only 3 characters will achieve Family Level 6 if all three characters are approximately level 64.

http://ge.iahgames.com/media/images/news/reaper%20wheel2.JPG
Level 5 Baron Armor

Barons now have a few extra perks for their efforts in spreading chaos, as they can earn special Baron Items by increasing their Baron Level, buying Soul Crystals from the Premium Shop, and collecting other items.

The Baron Items are costume items worn on the back of a selected player. In order to earn a Baron item, you must enter Baron Mode, and increase your Baron Points to gain the appropriate level for that item.

Then, visit the Premium Item Shop in any major city to obtain Soul Crystals. Take the Soul Crystals to Johnny the Gunman in Los Toldos and exchange it for your special Baron Item. Note that each special item will require a different number of Soul Crystals. The level one Baron Item requires 5 Soul Crystals. Higher level Baron items will require more Soul Crystals as well as other items before you can collect them from Johnny.

*Tip* It may be wise to purchase your Soul Crystals before entering Baron Mode, as going into a major city as a Baron can be problematic.

You can only equip a Baron Item if your character holds the appropriate Baron Level. However, the item will stay equipped even if your character returns to normal pioneering mode.

Chuck
08-09-2007, 05:41 PM
Player killing mode? Ew. I'd much, much rather just have a normal PvP-enabled map for bashing people's skulls in.

Are there any major updates other than the baron mode/armor?

IAHGames announces the business model for Granado Espada
10/08/2007

The time is now. It’s the moment you’ve all been waiting for. Finally, after long speculation and deliberation, IAHGames is announcing the Granado Espada business model, the guidelines of continuation for the English version of the 2006 Korean Game of the Year.

Before lifting the curtains and firing the cannons, we want to thank all of you for playing Granado Espada, and voicing your opinions on the business.

IAHGames has taken into account all of the concerns and opinions voiced, and mixed them with our own professional experience to finalize a model that we feel will provide the best service standard for you.

Several points stand out in our final decision. While the biggest advantage of a free to play model is unlimited accessibility, there are several possible pitfalls to such a system.

1) A free to play system creates a significantly larger base of players who do not invest anything in the game other than time. Some of these players will not care about following rules of conduct or fair play. If they receive a warning or ban, they can instantly create another account for free and re-enter the game.

2) An extremely large player base can also lead to server crowding, without providing adequate revenue for IAHGames to install and run new servers. It is our goal to maintain an optimal volume of players on all worlds, and to open new worlds as necessary. A free to play system would hamper our ability to do so.

3) Along with server crowding, Customer Service and support lines would be stretched to accommodate the large player base, once again without providing the necessary revenue that allows IAHGames to expand the CS staff to meet the number of needs and requests of our gamers. We do not think it is fair if customer service experiences a queue of some 99 requests, and a paying customer, one who supports the service, is stuck 99 slots behind players who is not paying for the service.

4) The accessibility of a free to play system also opens the doors for gold farmers, scammers, and others who wish to manipulate Granado Espada’s in-game world to meet self-serving desires other than entertaining game play.

5) We feel that players who invest both their time and money in Granado Espada will be more likely to show love for the game, their fellow gamers and the Granado Espada community as a whole. These are the kind of gamers we cherish at IAHGames, and the type of customer we consider first when providing our services.

In the end, it boils down to an ability to realistically provide a quality service based on perceived gamer populations and anticipated revenue. This is a community, your community, and we want everyone to be treated equally. IAHGames made the decision based on these principles.

Granado Espada will run on a hybrid pay to play model.

Gamers will be required to invest at least SGD$9.90/P300/RM$20/USD$5.60 into the game per month via various payment methods. Minus a nominal fee, this amount will transfer into G-Points which can then be used at the cash shop for premium items. Players have the option to invest more than the minimum per month for large cash shop purchases:

Players will get locally priced game value cards from their local distributors. Watch your local distributor's official GE websites for more information.

This model ensures that everyone in Granado Espada will be supporting the service with a real investment, but that investment will also offer a real return in the form of premium items.

There are no moochers or paying players. Everyone will invest in the game, but that investment still belongs to you, the gamer, for use at the cash shop. We feel it is the best way to maintain a quality service and game environment.

As a gesture of goodwill to celebrate our flagship online game, IAHGames have decided to reward all gamers who have been with us since the start of Pre-Open beta phase. 90 days of Free Game Play time will be allocated to all gamers who have at least 1 character above Level 20 during the transition to commercial phase. For more information on this, check out the FAQ here.

Thanks for your support of Granado Espada so far, and we look forward to seeing your continued adventures in this beautiful online world.

This is a sad day. but wait.

My friend would like to try out Granado Espada before committing it to it fully. Is there any free trial period?

Get your friends to start playing now! For all gamers who have at least 1 Level 20 character by 29th August 2007 2359hrs (GMT+8), they will get to enjoy 90 days of free game play after the commercialization date on 30th August 2007. We do not have a free trial period at this point in time, but we are planning to have one in future.

Atleast we have 90 days free :/
