Carbon Footprints (http://abcnews.go.com/WN/GlobalWarming2/story?id=3157870&page=1)

I was just curious to know your comments on these. Normally I don't pay attention or like ABCnews but today these things just interested me.

Anyhow, comments please.

The whole thing about gas prices being a bargain is a little bit unpractical if you ask me. I'd have to look at the ratio of wages and prices of gas from the 20's and now to actually belive that. Also, I don't like how Stossel compared gas prices to that of water or ice cream. Mostly because I don't think people would be going to the store to buy something like 30 gals of ice cream in one go or even buy every month. Bottle water might be different, depending on where you live and how water conditions are.

It also kind of bugs me that people just assume anyone can just pull money out of their pockets and buy a whole new electrical appliances, "greener" cars, and/or a whole bunch of solar panels. Yeah we'll end up saving money in the long run but we need money to make the change to begin with. Maybe it'd be something to look for when buying a new home.

I'm sure most everyone would like to help reduce pollution and small things do help but I think it'd be cool if there was some sort of program to help get the whole energy saving idea get around. I'd love to get a car that had more gas milage but as long as I'm low-income I can only dream.

I would've checked out the carbon footprint calculator thing but I couldn't find bills to save my life except for my cell phone bills. Barely. My mother likes to collect junk for some reason.

Anyhow, if any of you can, I'd be interested if someone would check out that carbon emission calculator.

I find what the ABC "Myth" article says interesting. The writer compared today's prices with prices of the 20s, when automobiles were still a luxury, and the 80s, which I'm fairly certain had an energy crisis thing going on. Either way, there are prices out there far above the "$3.22" the article mentioned. Places such as California saw that price months ago, and some places are looking at $4.

I find it's comforting to not look at the price when filling up. Put in $20 and go about my day. I've got more important shit to worry about than the gas prices, to be honest.

The carbon footprint thing is neat though, i've used it before. I'll have to redo it sometime soon once i find my bills.

Being able to fill your tank for 10 dollars was a bargain.

This is just shit. =p

Those were the good ol' days.

I remember I could make it for a week on 20 dollars. So much for that. :P

I read somewhere that if you buy an economy car, the high expenses involved actually makes it so you have to drive it for a large number of years to actually start saving money.

Other than that, gas prices being a bargain is ABC's way of saying "Lol we get paid by gas companies! ^-^"

I never understood the big fuss until I got my car. Thank god it only costs about $25 to fill it up. That's not too bad.

My mum's blazer is about $40 to fill up on gas. >.<

It only gets like 17 miles a gallon.

Luckily my mustang is a shitty 4 cylinder. :D
