My computer is currently not working, when I start up my monitor remains in sleep and my mobo (an ASUS) resorts to beep code. The beep code is one long and 2 short. Apparently this means there is a video display error or that the cables aren't connected properly. I have removed and reseated every component and have made sure everything is connected properly, resetting the CMOS between each test run. After all of this I still cannot get my computer to boot, and it is giving me the same series of beeps. This leaves me with two options, either a bum video card or a bum mobo. If there is anything else that it could be, please let me know because I don't want to have to replace either if I don't have to.

Sorry B, I'd try new GC, if it just WILL not start. So are all of the fans running etc?
Or is it just powering off as soon as you start it?

This is going to sound dumb, but check your power supply. Make sure you're running ample wattage etc. before you go shilling out for either a new mobo or vid card.

There's also the off chance the PCI connectors could be gimped.

It's not the PSU, as it was running before hand with it. What is happening is that it will beep before POST, 1 long two short, and won't complete the POST. Matters not, as it is currently at a local shop ( I had to take it there anyway to get a connector I fucked up fixed)

By any chance is your computer an Acer?

Buying a new GC couldn't hurt you could always replace it, a new motherboard may be in order though :<
Sorry I can't help you out much more then that without being able to really look at it at all.
