A band which I'd consider to be among my favourites. Melodic-Death from...guess where? Sweden. Plenty of bands assume the gothenburg-laden style, but fail to add anything innovative to the scene; but if you were to listen to Dark Tranquillity's last three releases, you'd be inclined to agree that Dark Tranquillity aren't your average melo-death band.

While many bands' sound remains stagnant throughout the years, Dark Tranquillity have always managed to pull off a new element to their sound with each album release; particularly their newest CD, Character.

If you're yet to hear DT, I strongly recommend their Damage Done album as an introduction, then to venture into their other works. If you have heard 'em, post what you think of them.

I heard their Damage Done, and I can say ... I can't say I liked much of it it. I won't say the band is horrible because I have not checked out any of the rest of their material (aside from The Gallery, which I must say I enjoyed a good bit)but if any of it is too similar to Damage Done I don't know ...

I will probably check out Character sooner or later.

Actually, the thing I didn't like about DD was not the Gothenburg style at all I kinda didn't mind it being used, but what I didn't like about it was ... it took too much effort for me to listen to it, because it was so boring and average.

Again, don't hate the band. Don't love them either.

I like them a bit, not a budding fanboy, but I like them nonetheless. I've got Character which I definately like, and I've heard other miscellaneous songs from various other albums; some good, some average. Gallery would appear to be their best album, but Projector and onwards are damn good too. A fairly decent band, in my opinion.
